I’m at the age where I see two types of people; those who are super active in community, whether it be a school or sport club, and then there are those who stick to the norm of work/ school sleep repeat. I am one of those people who have been slowly coasting by each week, not really concerned for much other than my family, friends, school and self. There are so many things in this world that I honestly wish I could change because I do feel extremely passionate about issues like world hunger, but how am I of all people going to become the next Craig Kielburger? Realistically I am not a kid who saw a headline and traveled across the world because I wasn’t smart enough to come up with a plan like that at the time; so typically I, like most people, are going to watch my Netflix, do my readings and call it a day.
But recently I have been using Facebook a lot and have been loving how everyone can share articles, photos and blog posts to spread ideas on the internet. My good friend shared an online petition about making tattooing animals illegal, yes TATTOOING ANIMALS IS LEGAL. Not only had I never heard of this before, who has the balls to think of this kind of stuff and actually go through and approve it? Who approves animal cruelty in general? Animal testing is one thing (that i don’t agree with for the record) but what does tattooing animals do for anyone?! I quickly clicked the link to the petition which listed the author and target of the petition and was pleasantly surprised because in order to sign it you take two seconds to provide your name, e-mail and address.
I got an email after from both Care2Petitions and PETA saying they are actually thankful, that with every vote they are closer to moving this issue to those who have more credibility in order to make a difference. This is only one of a million ways to make a difference and I didn’t even move from my couch; use the Internet as a platform to make a change. Please take a second to check the link out, it only takes a minute!
Till next time,
