Since I’ve been at work a lot this summer, there is an abundance of time to think “why am I actually here?”
No matter where you work, whether it be at a restaurant like myself or at a fancy internship downtown, we have to realize what we’re spending our time on and actually make the most of it.
Society needs to be much more self aware.
Most of us are caught up in the rush of errands, work and school 5-6 days a week. We’re always thinking work is just another thing to check off the weekly/ daily to-do list because payday is definitely worth it. But as humans, we should remember to treat our brain and body in a healthy fashion; we need rest in our routines.
I personally love working in the hospitality industry because I love talking and tend to stay organized in high demand situations. At work I feel like my head is (usually) in the right place at the right time and this is how everyone should feel at their jobs.
Of course there are loads of people who actually hate their workplace, and with that sad reality I’m here to tell you that no matter where you work, remember why you applied there in the first place (which is probably money), set some daily goals, and hopefully that’s enough to keep your chin up and make time go by a little faster.
Even if you think you’re stuck in one place, don’t be afraid to wipe the slate clean and start brand new. New beginnings are one of the best parts of living a human life, so enjoy every minute of something new.
Be that person that looks back on their life and see’s a colourful canvas of skills you learned from your new beginnings.
Till next time,
